OUR MISSION

Equipping youth and families for lives of reconciliation in God’s world.

OUR VISION

We aim for diverse groups of people to live, learn, play and worship together according to God’s vision of wholeness.

WHAT WE VALUE

We value reconcilitation, leadership and community partnerships.

"All of this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us to the gift of reconciliation.”      2 Corinthians 5:18

The Tall Turf family consists of people that come from all walks of life.
We come in different sizes and colors, with different experiences and worldviews.
We are united by the shared belief that we are made in the image of God, and through that we all have value. By approaching community this way, we have begun to discover that we can accomplish infinitely more than we ever could on our own.

Our community is committed to collectively learning to identify what barriers prevent people from knowing their own worth, and then applying ourselves to dismantle systems that perpetuate those beliefs.

OUR ROOTS

In the wake of the racial turbulence of the 1960’s, Camp Tall Turf was founded in 1968 with the vision to provide a safe, peaceful and fun environment for children of different racial groups to come together. The founders of Tall Turf shared the conviction that the Christian community ought to be at the forefront of the work of dismantling racism and injustice. They chose the name "Tall Turf" for the site of their camp because of the many tall trees stretching heavenward and for them to recognize and claim it as God's turf. Since its very beginning, Tall Turf's ministry has been to proclaim and demonstrate Christ's ministry of reconciliation.  We believe that all people are called to God’s ministry of reconciliation and we seek to carry out this mandate by creating opportunities for youth and families. Today Tall Turf is building on this original vision as it provides and develops year-round leadership development programs aimed at equipping youth with the skills and the awareness needed to be effective agents of reconciliation in God’s world.
